Moving Expense Reimbursed by Employers
Under New 2017 Tax Law, for tax years beginning after December 31, 2017 and before January 1, 2026, the moving expense reimbursements exclusion is suspended, except for members of the Armed Forces on active duty who move on military order and for a permanent change of station.
Background: Under the old law, taxpayers could take a deduction expenses in connection with starting a new job if the new workplace was at least 50 miles farther from a taxpayer’s former residence than the former place of work.
